Phase 1: RealWorld Design
Using the RealWorld Resources and working face-to-face, high-school-aged students and teachers/coaches brainstorm, design, build, test, and share ideas to solve one of two design problems related to the James Webb Space Telescope. This work may supplement standards-based curriculum and can be used to reinforce or introduce science and math content.
Once the RealWorld Challenge is completed, teachers/coaches are encouraged to submit their students' best RealWorld project solutions online through the Advanced Registration. Submitted projects will be featured in the Gallery of Student Designs on the RealWorld-InWorld website and teams will receive recognition for their work.
To move to the InWorld Challenge, project solutions must be submitted by January 15, 2011 (new deadline). During the InWorld Challenge, teams compete for scholarships and technology awards.
