    Phase 1: RealWorld Design

Using the RealWorld Resources, high-school-aged students work face-to-face with their teachers/adult coaches to solve one of two design problems related to the James Webb Space Telescope. Students are encouraged to use an online science notebook for their work.

Once the RealWorld Challenge is completed, coaches are encouraged to submit their students' best solutions through Advanced Registration. Submitted final projects will be featured in the Gallery of Student Designs on the RealWorld-InWorld website and teams will receive recognition for their work.

To move to the InWorld Challenge, coaches must submit final solutions by January 15, 2011 (new deadline).  During the InWorld Challenge, teams compete for scholarships and technology awards.

    Phase 2: InWorld Design

College students, who act as team leaders, select the team they will lead.

Throughout the InWorld challenge, professional engineers and scientists will act as mentors to answer questions as needed.

Participation in Phase 2 is limited to U.S. citizens.

    InWorld Resources
     will guide each team's work.

Five InWorld teams will participate in a final SYNCHRONOUS EDUCATION FORUM 3:30 - 5:30 PM ET, April 14, 2011.

The highest scoring team will earn scholarships and technology awards.
